Why some IPTV channels never show programmes
Event, PPV and 24/7 channels, renamed channels, local stations and channels with no published schedule: which empty channels can be fixed and which cannot.
Even with a good guide, some channels in a big IPTV playlist stay empty. Some can be fixed; others have no schedule anywhere in the world. Knowing which is which saves a lot of time.
Channels that can be fixed
The name does not match
The most common case. The guide has the channel, but under a different name than your playlist ("ProSieben MAXX" against "DE: PRO7 MAXX HD"). A guide built from your provider's channel list matches these automatically. If you use a generic guide, you can map the channel by hand in some players.
The channel was renamed or is new
Providers add and rename channels all the time. A guide that is rebuilt every hour from the current list follows the changes; a guide built once a month does not.
Delayed copies
"+1" and timeshift copies need the schedule of the original channel, shifted. Good guides do this for you.
Channels that cannot have a schedule
Event and PPV channels
Channels like "EVENT 12" or "PPV 3" only carry a live event now and then; their content changes from one day to the next and no broadcaster publishes a schedule for them. The best a guide can do is show the event name when the provider writes it in the channel name. EPG Full shows those event names instead of leaving the channel blank.
24/7 loops
Channels that loop one series or film collection around the clock are made by the IPTV panel itself. There is no broadcaster behind them and so no schedule.
Very small local stations
Some local or community channels never publish a TV guide. If you cannot find their schedule on their own website, no EPG can have it either.
How to tell the difference
Search for the channel's official schedule. If it exists online, the channel can have a guide and the problem is matching or freshness. If it does not, the channel will stay empty in every guide.
A guide that matches your provider
EPG Full builds the guide from your IPTV provider's own channel list every hour, with logos. Try it free for 2 days.
